hello. i am going to ireland in about a week. i wanted a simple camcorder so i could shoot some cool footage of all the great churches and landscapes.
i have always been interested in film and have made a few movies using borrowed vhs-c camcorders. the film quality really was crap by the time i made it digital and compressed it to edit in adobe premiere. so i knew i wanted a digital camera... one on the bottom level of the market so i would not be broke. you know, it's my first camcorder... shouldn't be too fancy.
i baught the jvc GR-DVF10 for a great price ($388... about 300 less than any other place) from amazon.com ... although it has an s-cable, it does not have a firewire thing. through video/sound cables is basically how i will have to transfer it to a comp if i want to edit on it.
i know that that will reduce the quality somewhat but it will still be better than the vhs-c right?? because the whole purpose of going digital is picture quality. i am not looking for an amazing camcorder. i want something simple to take to ireland. but will i loose so much image quality that it is worth returning and not having a camera to go to ireland. i hope not. but let me know.
